This is about Gerbil Toys. Gerbils have lots of toys, empty tissue rolls to play sticks and much more, you can get these from Pet Shops.
Just look on yellow pages or ask someone.
Gerbils need some thing soft, not HARD glass, so thats why its important to have some thing like woodshavings. Its not that expensive aswell.

About Gerbil STROKES
Gerbils may have strokes. a gerbil who had a minor strokeYou can usually tell that a gerbil has had a stroke when he or she has suddenly lost the use of a couple of limbs or when half the face is droopy, as seen in the photo up . If your gerbil suffers a stroke, there is little to do except provide a good environment for recovery. First, make sure that your gerbil can still get to the water bottle. Lower it if you need to. If your gerbil can't feed itself or drink, you can offer some sugar-free organic baby food (apple is a popular flavor with gerbils) on a spoon and let your gerbil lick the baby food up. Your gerbil may also like some lukewarm, cooked oatmeal. You can use an eyedropper to give your gerbil water.

I think you'll find they use non-toxic Graphite in pencils these days not Lead. But still wouldn't make for a great chew toy.

If your meaning different substrates there are a fair few on the market - carefresh, cardboard squares, fina card (shredded cardboard) megazorb, wood / paper based cat litters (unscented and untreated varieties)The 'back to nature' pet bedding pellet stuff I found good but not when found bits of plastic and foil mixed in with it so stopped using it and wouldn't recommend though.
In answer to your other question no I don't currently keep Gerbils. I Keep breed and show hamsters - mainly Syrian and also keep mice.

Can someone help my gerbil escaped yesterday, i have put it on the other pet question website, the cage was closed, i came back from school and he was not there, the top cage was open a tiny bit!!!

oh yeah, same me, my top part of the cage opens when they bang it hard, he must be very hard
